Zoolander - Depending on who you are, this movie is either amazingly funny, or an incredibly stupid waste of time. Personally, I love this movie. The movie makes fun of the modeling world, and everyone involved in it. There are assassination plots by the fashion industry, freak gasoline fight accidents, and "The Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good." The main character is Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller), an incredibly famous and utterly moronic male model. After losing the male model of the year award to newcomer Hansel (Owen Wilson), he is hired for a comeback fashion show. However, he doesn't know that he's really being hired to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Overall, this movie's hilarious, but it's a very bizarre type of humor that not everyone can appreciate.
Monty Python's Holy Grail - Many consider this as one of the funniest movies ever made. To sum up this movie, there really isn't much story tying it together. It's more like a bunch of slightly related skits and filler. The skits are friggin awesome, and the filler's pretty funny too. Again it's a stupid kind of humor, but it's on the level of pure genius. If there is a story, it's that King Arthur and his knights are searching for the Holy Grail...that's it. "Monty Python's Holy Grail" also gets props for one of the most randomly abrupt endings ever. I won't spoil it, cause' even if the movie hints at it several times, you won't see it coming. You've probably heard of the black knight sketch, the killer bunny sketch, or the bridge of death sketch; all of these legendary sketches are from this movie...nuff' said.
The Truman Show - While this movie stars Jim Carrey, this definitely is not a comedy. It's really a very unique drama that was ahead of it's time when it released (1998). It's about a man named Truman (Jim Carrey), whose life is a TV show. As a kid, he was adopted by a Television network, and they built a huge studio for him to live his life in. Everyone he knows, including his wife and his best friend, are actors. Throughout the movie he starts figuring this out, and eventually escapes. Even though this isn't a comedy, it's packed with amusing situations and dialogue. Overall a well done movie, and one that always puts me in a good mood. I recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it.
Toy Story/Wall-e - These movies are both from Pixar, and they always put me in a good mood. I could say that most Pixar movies do this, but Toy Story and Wall-e are my favorite Pixar movies as of now. In one, toys come to life, in the other, it's about robots falling in love and saving the earth. Both movies are very well done and fully deserving of the Academy awards they received. While both movies appear to be made for kids, they're equally for adults - emotionally involving, funny, and just overall good movies.
